Deb's Thoughts on Writing for Examiner.com

In April, I started writing for Examiner.com. I wasn't too sure about this new role. I had applied to write about national happenings, but they hired me to write about hip hop happenings in the Tacoma area. But in the last couple of months, the job has gotten exciting.

I found out about a group called Darxiide. Thanks to a friend of a friend, I was able to learn about different events were happening around this group including a double CD release and a mixtape they were organizing. Thanks to this one group, I have been able to make many contacts. Now I'm working on a series of articles profiling the artists on Darxiide's mixtape.

I'm really enjoying getting back in to journalism. I've always enjoyed writing, but now being so focussed on educational writing with my dissertation, I've really enjoyed being able to vary my voice, and it's made me even more motivated to work on my dissertation!
